UMAT EXAM IN 3 DAYSUMAT = Undergraduate Medicine Admissions Test
This will be the single biggest exam I take all year. This is even worse than my HSC exams in October to determine my UAI and rankings and all this and that.
UMAT's basically an aptitude test to determine if you have the mind to be a doctor. It's split into 3 sections:
- Section One : Logical Reasoning and problem solving (THE HARDEST)
- Section Two : Understanding people (my favourite)
- Section Three : Non Verbal Reasoning (very fun)
Tutoring for this is like..$400-500. It's really expensive..and the test itself, you have to pay $160 to SIT THE EXAM. And there's ALOT of competition. There's I think..700 people sitting it? I'm not too sure on the figures. So if you think about it, this is ALOT of money that they're making. Plus if you do well, you have to then go through an
interview process. OMG, just to get into medicine..there's so much work needed...
And you need to do well in this. You can't "study" for this exam. All questions you've never seen before and you can't really prepare except PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.
I'm so unbelievably stressed. I feel like everything's just crumbling aaargh..T_T Really..I'm so scared cause I have such high hopes. And if I don't do well in this, it instantly means no medicine = end of the road for my hopes and dreams..

AHHHH!Was talking to my friend in uni earlier today. He's doing medicine in melbourne and all this and that. Aiyoo, he was telling me how AWESOME the course is in melb =(!!

AAARGH! He's made me so excited about it >< He says its really really fun, and I really really cannot wait to start. But first..must study hard to get into the course. Ahhh!
But hey, I think today, I've finally picked a one-true motivation to study hard. The chance to be a future doctor / GP. All so enticing, all so fun =] Maybe later in life I can go to overseas countries and do humanitarian work. Work in third-world countries. Help the poor, the sick, the young. Give people a second chance at life. Stressful, but so so rewarding.
Maaan...but first, the big hurdle of exams. Doing subjects that are useless when doing medicine.
MATHEMATICS. Like seriously..Who's going to do anything related to mathematics in medicine T.T "oh wow..his heart is shaped like an ellipse..let's calculate the area...x^2/a^2 + y^2/b^2 = 1...~__~"
ENGLISH. "Yeh, you have cancer sorry. Hate to break it to you like that. But I did read this really awesome book the other day. Heard of it?

PHYSICS. "When you talked to me during our consultation, I noticed a bit of spit that flew out of your mouth. According to my calculations, its velocity was 5m/s at 30 degrees to the horizontal. Would you like me to calculate its greatest height and range?" .......
CHEMISTRY. okay. chemistry DOES have a purpose in medicine. Understandin radioactive isotopes for patient diagnosis and tratment and chemical reactions in the body. probably the ONLY subject that really really deserves any credit.

Anyway, school started again today. Gosh, seeing everyone again. Thing is, everyone's so so STRESSED because of the upcoming trial exams in 2wks time. Everyone's cramming like crazy, meaning I too have to study like siao. Aiyeer...-note to self: must jy!-
So many people with different hairstyles / new looks / new bags etc etc. It's always a fun time of the year, when a new term starts and everyone comes back and tells all their stories from the holidays...Hahaha, funny though, this time round

LOL, but the funniest one was from Janet. Janet is the queen of procrastination. Yet she does SO WELL in exams. She'll get stressed out 2 days before, cram like MAD, and ACE the exam. Really! I wish I had her skill. =( People like me, study hard hard hard, still don't get as high marks as her. She ar...really, natural talent..but anyway, what she said

Janet: OMG. I felt so hardworking in the first two days. I worked like crazy..but then after that, i didn't do ANYTHING. One day, I sat and watched 5 movies. FIVE! Omgawsh..and the thing was, the last two days i was REALLY REALLY angry at myself. Like, absolutely furious that I did absolutely NOTHING all holiday.
Me: Haha, I bet you used those last two days productively. Went and crammed like crazy..
Janet: Are you kidding me?! I just sat there and let myself be angry at myself! Like, RAWR!

One week down of this holiday ~ one week left to go. The thing is, I'm going insane maan! Grounded, stuck at home, not allowed to leave because of the exams coming up. It's driving me nuts! I can't stay 3 weeks inside the house and wait till AFTER exams. Aye man..I'm glad that once ALL THIS IS OVER, I have a 4 month holiday awaiting me!
Was reading the paper this morning, then found a samurai sudoku. Haven't seen one of those in such a long time, so decided to go do it. WALAO it took me like..45mins to finish! It's absolutely HUGE. Imagine 5 sudoku puzzles in one. Have a look XD

Eh, few days ago I went to Blue Mountains with family. It's REALLY COLD THERE!! Omgawsh I'm serious. It's so cold! Right in the middle of winter some more. But parents wanted to get out of the house and go somewhere close to Sydney, so we went there. It's only about 1hrs drive off from Sydney ~~ =] The main scenic site is echo point, which is at the edge of a HUGE HUGE VALLEY. Take a look and see ~~
The valley stretches to about as far as the horizon in the last picture. It's a really nice place. BUT OMGAWSH SO WINDY AND SO COLD. As I was walking I was expecting the wind to blow me away all the way to msia or something LOL. Then we went too..
CHOCOLATE FACTORY!!! WALAO
Okay, seriously, this place has the BEST CHOCOLATE. Omgawsh I'm craving more more more..It was seriously sooo gooood. They have REAL HOT CHOCOLATE. Not your MILO chocolate powder that you pour in milk. I should have taken pic, but I'll explain as best as I can.
You have it come in separate parts. Your cup, chocolate pieces, milk. The cup is the special thing. THink of a long cylindrical tube with a hole at the top to pour your milk into. But at the bottom is a candle. So it heats your chocolate on the spot. So basically, you make your own chocolate milk. Add milk, add chocolate and stir. Their chocolate....HAO NICE LA!! OMG. And the spoon was so interesting too. Imagine a..
metal straw, with a spoon "basin" attached to one end. it's like the plastic straws you use to drink pearl milk tea, but all metal, and super super cool. the metal's heated so as you drink it warms the milk XD

Like, I think watchin the robot develop his own willpower and start breaking away from his program that tells him to "say this and say that", pretty cool la. He also starts developing personal emotions and all this and that.
Also the series damn funny la ~~ Alot of funny moments that i really enjoy ^__^ So it's not just soppy sad stuff, also very jumpy and happy ~~ Not like

Wow alot has happened since I last posted. Exams finished around..2wks ago, and the last 2wks have had ALOT of things happen.
LAST WEEK ~
Started gettin all my exam results back. All not too bad la. Retaining the same rank as last time which is really good. But hao happy about my extension-2 maths results. Came..4th in the class? And our maths class is the top one in the school, so hao happy about it ^__^ My rank last time was like..55/97 for extension-2..so hopefully i can AT LEAST hit top20. My aim is top-15 by August. Hopefully can hit it. All my other subjects..I guess I'll be retaining
JAP - 4th
ENG - 40th~ around
MATHS extension-1 - 30th ~
CHEM - 16th
PHYS - not too sure. need to improve on this.
Then we had a prefect event. "mini olympics". Was talkin to yee yee few days ago about prefects. Hao different from other countries. Prefects in our school aren't the bossy ones that tell everyone to behave, do uniform nicely, treat people nicely etc etc. No la, we're not the bossy type. We're more like..what yee yee called "cheerleaders" LOL! We raise school spirit, make the school more fun, so we run events and all this and that. Kind of like the student council.
So our mini-olympics [ since this year is beijing games wor ] was held over..2hrs during school time? Had different events instead of the sporting events you'd imagine. We had like..dodgeball, gladiators [ GLADIATORS HAO FUN LE. we had a gymnastics beam and long plastic poles and 2 competitors had to try and hit the other person off. but of course had all the crash mats around the beam incase they fall ]. Other games:
- equestrian. This one also v. interesting. Imagine musical chairs MINUS the chairs. Instead of chairs, you have people. So one person had to be a chair, the other person had to sit on the chair. And to make things interestin, each round had different rules. Like..you had to pair boy x girl, or boy x boy, or with people in the same grade as you, same nationality as you etc etc.
- Shotput. Instead of proper shotput, we replaced them with WATER BOMBS. So people had to throw the waterbombs at others to score points. FUN LA
- swimming. No we don't have a pool at our school. Instead we got people to wear swimming caps, goggles and FLIPPERS and they had to run around an obstacle course. Ahaha of course, with swimming flippers, they run so awkwardly and fall down alot HAHA. Aye..alot of people watched that game and cheer for their friends
Ahh day was hao fun le. Alot of people got involved, fun to see everyone just have a good time ^.^
THIS WEEK ~
Eee ~ last week of school before two week holiday. So of course everyone was excited and couldn't wait till the week was over. We had photos on monday tuesday. So everyone dressed up nicely, wear make up for their last photo. After this year, no more school photos since everyone goes to uni. Everyone commenting on each other's hair and makeup. Can see all the girls with their mirrors, all the guys busy applying gel / wax XD Haha ~~
Wednesday...Nothing lor. Was a very average day. Go school, go home, eat, sleep, do homework, audi a bit. XD
Thursday..aiyeer same.
Friday..Ahh, yesterday was so good la! Had lots of things happen. Our time as prefects finishes this term, so yesterday was the last day for all of us to pull off a BIG BIG EVENT for the school. By tradition, every year the prefects hold a big big assembly for the whole school and entertain. So basically, we pull off a show for everyone to watch =] Since we had mini-olympics last week, we had VERY LITTLE time to plan and rehearse everything. But we managed to do it! Aye, everyone pull together and we pulled a good show for them. XD Going to get the video recording of the whole assembly next term. Maybe I can put it up for all of you to see LOL
Then after that, continuing on with prefects, for a month we had been planning a big big dinner for all the prefects. Both parents and prefects invited. We booked a nearby community hall, and told everyone to bring some food. Whaa man, the food HAO NICE la. This one just to taunt DOLLY. ATE SO MUCH. YUM YUM YUM!! =ppp Haha look at the photos!
